Whilst sifting through boxes of comics at my parents I found this issue of Manga Mania with an interesting cover, It features a picture of the Manga character Grey painted by one of my favorite comic artists Kev Walker

A version of Tetsujin 28 I had never heard of called Tetsujin 28-FX very cool and very nineties looking!

The latest issue of ImagineFX is out and its a character design special, Jam packed with excellent articles and tutorials ( my comic strip is snugly nestled in the news page! ).

I re-watched Brad Bird’s Iron Giant movie last night, It’s one of my favorite animated films!

It took me a while to get round to watching it as I had initially written it off as your usual bad Hollywood kids movie gunk ( I think this may have been down to a bad marketing campaign by Warner Brothers which sold it as “bad Hollywood kids movie gunk”).

I ended up catching it on TV on a quiet sunday and was absolutely gobsmacked at how good this movie was. The storytelling, animation and design all amazing. It’s a real shame that very few people watched this on release this is something I would love to see on the big screen!

Anyway as you can see I have knocked out a quick doodle of said Iron Giant, though I may redo the shading as I have seem to gone a bit screen tone crazy! If I have time I may draw him a body and give him a lick of paint.

If you never seen it I suggest you go to you local video shop and rent it (amazon also have it for very cheap).

This is a rough doodle I’m doing of Briareos Hecatonchires from Appleseed, It was inspired a drawing that Brandon Graham posted on his blog.

I don’t normally get to flex my Sci-Fi/Manga Muscles as I tend to focus on more cartoony style stuff but I’m having a lot of fun with this image. As you can see I have yet to finish his legs and the shading is very rough, I will post the finished Image soon!

I just got Manga Studio EX4 and its very good as you can see by the results below!

I will make more posts as I get to grips with the software!

I’m really digging Brandon Graham’s art at the moment, I also enjoy reading his blog as he writes about lots of cool stuff! he seems to of grown up reading the same late 80’s and early 90’s manga as me!
